A writing institute that fits into a school year
Clairton City School District is preparing its staff and students for a cross-curricular writing institute in 2014-15.
With a $35,000 Teacher Empowerment Grant provided by the Heinz Endowments, Clairton is making a local model of the Pittsburgh-based Young Writers Institute called Clairton Writes. The project, as a Teachers Leading Change initiative, fits into Heinz's mission to support efforts across Southwestern Pennsylvania to establish communities as premier places for educational excellence while embracing diversity.
