It took nearly 18 years for Lois Lowry’s most celebrated young adult novel, “The Giver,”
to come to the big screen. The now-a-major-motion-picture book tells a
story about a future society that, to spare the human race from pain and
suffering, has eliminated all emotion. Only one person — The Giver
(played by Jeff Bridges) — maintains a record of the human experience in
his mind, and it’s time for him to pass those memories on to Jonas, The
Receiver (Brenton Thwaites).
And now that the film version of her beloved book is (finally) arriving in theaters on Friday, Lowry says she would like to go back and make just one small revision. ( at The Washington Post)
