Writing revealed

The Heart of Texas Writing Project (HTWP) exists to remind every second grader with a poet inside and high school teacher who wants to pen her memoirs that writing's for everybody and good writers are made, not born.

It seems we live in a culture that believes writers get ideas dropped into their heads and that they simply (or not) work from there. Inspiration is what gets writers writing, the lore goes, and it is what sustains them through the processes of writing.

Anyone who writes regularly knows that that is not the case. Writing is hard, intentional work, work often not brought upon by a muse that somehow visits the writer. Writing project teachers get to experience this work of writing and, by extension, so do their students.
