UND's Writing for Children and Young Adults Conference gives you the chance to hear from professionals in the field and show your manuscript to an editor for feedback. This year, the conference is October 1-2 at UND and the featured speakers are children's writer Jane Kurtz, (former interim director of the Red River Valley Writing Project, and a prolific author), and senior editors from Viking Children's Books/Firebird Books and Albert Whitman Co.
The registration fee is $90 and you can find the online registration form here. This is a fantastic opportunity to get face time with an actual children's book editor--something that is awfully hard to come by in everyday life.
