Great event in Fargo this Tuesday night (10/26)!

Please consider joining Kelly Sassi, new RRVWP co-director and English education professor at NDSU, as her students present a book study on Teaching the New Writing: Technology, Change, and Assessment in the 21st-century Classroom. Her English methods and graduate students will give brief, interactive presentations on certain chapters, and a general discussion of the book will follow. All the detailed information is below—since there are chapter presentations, you don’t have to read the book to participate (though you may want to pick up a copy once you hear about it).

The book study is tomorrow night (Tuesday, October 26) from 7-8:30pm on the NDSU campus in FLC, 2nd floor, at the hallway near the Memorial Union.

The details on the chapter presentations/presenters:

“Digital Picture Books: From Flatland to Multimedia” by Kevin Hodgson (presented by Olivia Edwardson) elementary level

“Be a Blogger: Social Networking in the Classroom” by Paul Allison (presented by Michael Bashford) secondary level

“Poetry Fusion: Integrating Video, Verbal, and Audio Texts” by Jeffrey Schwartz (presented by Adam Ching) secondary level

“Senior Boards: Multimedia Presentations from Yearlong Research and Community-Based Culminating Projects” by Brian Ripley Crandall (presented by Kelsey Johnson) secondary level

“From the Front of the Classroom to the Ears of the World: Multimodal Composing in Speech Class” by Dawn Reed and Troy Hicks (presented by Brianna McDaniels) secondary level

“Student Engagement and Multimodality: Collaboration, Schema, Identity” by Peter Kittle (presented by Chelsea Gilbertson) college level

  1. Thanks for sharing this about our book collection. I'm happy that folks are using it and finding it useful. If Olivia wants to chat with me (the chapter writer she presented on), I'd be happy to do so.
