As February marks African American History Month, the National Writing Project celebrates black history with these resources by teacher-consultants and guest speakers at NWP events.
African American History Month was started in the 1920s, when Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson, who believed that truth could not be denied and that reason would prevail over prejudice, sought to raise awareness of African Americans' contributions to civilization. (from NWP)
