Please call your senators immediately and urge them to maintain support for NWP in their FY 2011 budget for the Department of Education. The Senate announced that it will take up the continuing resolution for the current year’s budget (FY 2011) on March 1.
On February 19, the House of Representative passed a budget for FY 2011 that contains deep cuts in education, including elimination of the National Writing Project. Attention now moves to the Senate which will take up the budget discussion on March 1 when Congress returns from recess. To ensure that NWP is included in the budget, please tell Congress:
