Last year, Figment teamed up with readergirlz to sponsor Rock the Drop, and this year we’re joining forces once again to promote a love of literature among all age groups.
For the uninitiated: Rock the Drop, which falls this year on April 12, is an event held in honor of YALSA’s Support Teen Lit Day. To participate, readers are encouraged to leave a book (or 10) somewhere in their community for another person to find. If you’re unsure of what to do with that old, thumbed-through copy of your favorite read, this would be a great opportunity to pass it on.
The rules are simple: go here and print out the Rock the Drop bookplate pictured above (it was designed by the brilliant web comic artist David Ostow!), and put it in the book(s) that you plan to give away. Feel free to share the bookplate online, too: your blog, Facebook, and Twitter profiles are all great places to spread the word. Spend some time brainstorming about the best places to leave your books: on a bench in the subway? Under a tree in your favorite park? Half-buried in sand at the beach? It’s your call!
