AuThursday: Report from the Grand Forks Book Club

Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous WeaponBomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The RRVWP Grand Forks Book Club met on December 7 in honor of Pearl Harbor Day to discuss Bomb.

Author Steve Sheinkin managed to turn the atomic race into a thrilling spy story. The writing is clear, but cleverly arranged as to keep readers guessing and raptly interested. Most chapters end with a cliffhanger.

Our members had a great time talking about Bomb - especially noting all the things we learned. Kristine is fairly confident that given the right ingredients she could make a bomb with what she learned inthe book. We discussed what we learned about Oppenheimer and some of the other books that Sheinkin has written. While we appreciated the photos, we thought that some should have been placed earlier in the book.

We all agreed that this book would hold great appeal for young adult readers.
