Welcome to a month of poetry-related posts

Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month, held every April, is the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture. (from The Academy of American Poets website)

Because April is National Poetry Month, the Red River Valley Writing Project blog will feature poetry-related posts for the entire month. So, let's consider the following from Jane Hirshfield, Academy of Poets Chancellor---

"Poetry's work is not simply the recording of inner or outer perception; it makes by words and music new possibilities of perceiving."
