CommuniTREE Service

The Red River Valley Writing Project's Grand Forks Book Club once again decorated a Christmas tree as part of the 22nd Annual Festival of Trees at the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks. For this community service event, volunteers decorate trees donated by businesses. The trees are then given to underprivileged families chosen by the Grand Forks County and Polk County Social Services. The event is sponsored by the L.I.S.T.E.N. Center of Grand Forks.

This year's tree was decorated by Pam Fisher,
Andrea Scherer, and Kristine Gruenberg, pictured below, with books and ornaments donated by the aforementioned and Katie Bolstad. This year's theme was "Green and Read" (pronounced as "red").

The trees were on display in the Sears wing at Columbia Mall from November 27-December 5 prior to being donated to families in need.
