AuThursday: Update from Fargo-Moorhead Book Club

 The Fourteenth Goldfish

The Fargo-Moorhead Book Club thoroughly enjoyed Jennifer Holm's genre-bending middle grade book, The Fourteenth Goldfish. With only 208 pages, it amazed us how well Holm was able to craft a story about family, middle school, relationships, science, musicals, and the implications of immortality so masterfully! There is simply a lot for any reader to think about after reading this powerful story.

Our group thought this was a perfect read for upper elementary students and anyone who is forever young at heart. Although no one got up and sang Alphaville's hit song, "Forever Young," during the meeting, we did call The Fourteenth Goldfish the Tuck Everlasting of this generation.

The Fourteenth Goldfish is a perfect read aloud for any middle school classroom, and an easy sell to those who are experiencing changes in their lives.
