The only thing on our calendar this week is the RRVWP Monthly Leadership meeting on Saturday, November 7th from 10am to noon in the conference room of the English department on the NDSU campus, which is located in 318 Minard Hall. At our November leadership meeting,
we will plan for NWP/NCTE, the winter writing retreat,
next summer's institute, and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. We
will also discuss the co-director job descriptions presented by Karen
and Pam, hear an update on blog efforts and reporting on events since
our October meeting. If we get applications for
our Assistant position, we will review those as well. Please let Kelly know by Wednesday if you have other agenda items.
Coming up later this month is the Annual Meeting of the National Writing Project in Minneapolis November 18-20th. Because of proximity, we had a lot of interest in attending this year. It looks like there will be 12 RRVWP TCs representing our site at the NWP and overlapping NCTE conference (Nov. 19-22). Three teachers are presenting at NWP
on the SEED grant
for high-needs schools: Lori Hieserich, Kelly Sassi, and Jenna Trosvik. Four of us are
presenting at NCTE on ways in which their own writing practice
transforms their teaching: Angie Hase, Erika Dyk, Isaac Lundberg, and
Karen Taylor, with Kelly Sassi as chair. Kelly Sassi is co-leading the retreat for new site directors with the director of
the Greater Madison site. Olivia Edwardson is attending to meet with
Scholastic, and then we have a few people just attending--Ben Scallon
from Lakota, Aryelle Jones from Fargo, and Adam Ching from Wahpeton. Dan Dooher will be attending NCTE and the ALAN workshop.
